About Me
Dr. Ikeranda Smith (Dr. Ike) is a compassionate psychologist and professor dedicated to serving humanity by building and strengthening communities through healthier relationships. As a psychologist, she believes in helping individuals repair their relationships with love by first encouraging them to resolve their relationship with themselves. As a professor, she creates dynamic environments that enable scholars to thrive as global thought leaders by integrating theories that transform spaces through innovative methods that incorporate psychology, sociology, and emotional intelligence into traditional settings.
The authenticity reflected in Dr. Ike’s life is central to her philosophy. She firmly believes in the transformative power of doing 'the work' while acknowledging the profound impact of dismantling inherited constructs, particularly those rooted in each individual’s family of origin. Driven by a passion for healing and unlearning self-destructive behaviors, she has experienced unequivocal transformations in her life, marriage, and perspective.
With a doctorate in psychology, Dr. Ike is focused on efforts to establish safer spaces that foster a sense of collaborative care with others. Her research interests include exploring the underrepresentation of BIPOC individuals and the harmful ways in which systems of oppression seek to dismantle families, and how fundamental it is that individuals decolonize their perspectives in order to create communities that are rooted in self-love and collective care. Dr. Smith believes that when people approach life with meaning, love, and care, they can become agents of social change and take meaningful steps toward living more fulfilling lives. She continues to be a driving force in efforts to build stronger, more resilient individuals and communities.
Family is at the heart of Dr. Ike's values, and she exemplifies what it means to grow into one's true self while inspiring others to do the same.
